This week, the Government has announced £562m of funding to be spent on making the nation’s homes warmer and greener as part of its drive to reduce carbon emissions.
More than 50,000 properties nationwide will receive upgrades to cut over 70,000 tonnes of carbon from the atmosphere annually.
Better Homes Yorkshire is set to deliver around £15million of home improvement works across North Yorkshire, Calderdale, Bradford and Leeds.
The funding will be used to support lower-earning residents living in the least energy efficient homes (those with Energy Performance Certificate band ratings of E, F and G and a total annual income of £30k or less).
The work will help to make homes healthier, warmer and cheaper to heat as well as helping to reduce carbon emissions and tackle the climate emergency.
What work can I apply for?
Potential work includes the following:
How long do I have to apply?
The funding is available for a limited amount of time. Residents and landlords are encouraged to apply as soon as possible to ensure the funding can be used most effectively.
I’m a private tenant, can I apply?
Private tenants should speak to their landlord about improvements that can be made and let them know how they can apply for funding to help improve the rental property’s energy efficiency.
