Calling Residents of York!

Back

Those living in York may be eligible for the Home Upgrade Grant which offers funded insulation for low-income homes.

Our partners, Eclipse Energy are currently visiting homes in Guildhall to check if residents are eligible. Thoughout August and September Eclipse Energy will also visit homes in the Micklegate, Holgate and Westfield areas.

The following types of insulation are available:

•             Loft insulation and draft proofing

•             Cavity wall insulation

•             Attic room insulation

HUG funding is available to you whether you own or privately rent your home, subject to the eligibility criteria and surveys. Permission will also be required from your landlord if you're in private rented accommodation.

To help you identify Eclipse Energy genuine contractors and so you're comfortable with who's knocking on your door, they'll have Eclipse Energy ID badges and will follow canvassing guidance provided by our Trading Standards team.

HUG eligibility criteria and funding.

To qualify for HUG funding:

•             Your household must have an annual income of less than £30,000 per year

•             Rented properties must have an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating of D to G

All grants are subject to a home survey and an Energy Performance Certificate.

HUG funding for homeowners

If you own your home the insulation work and survey will be fully funded by the grant.

HUG funding for private tenants

We can provide a grant of up to £5000 for insulation measures.
