Free attic room insulation

West Yorkshire Combined Authority and Better Homes Yorkshire have secured funding to provide free insulation for the attic bedrooms or lofts of Calderdale homes, as part of the Tackling Fuel Poverty programme. The new insulation will make the homes cheaper to heat, as well as healthier places to live and better for the environment.

The work is part of the Council’s affordable warmth programme and the Leeds City Region Enterprise Partnership (the LEP) Tackling Fuel Poverty Local Growth Fund investment programme. For more information on the scheme click here.

Eligible households in Calderdale will be contacted by the Better Homes Yorkshire team, if you’d like to find out more information, get in touch with the Better Homes call centre on 0800 597 1500 or click apply now.

About Attic Room Insulation

Because heat rises, it’s essential that the top of your house is well insulated. Older properties with rooms in the roof have little or no insulation, making this space the coldest in the house.

Reasons to insulate your attic room

Warmer House - With 25% of heat loss through the roof, insulating your room in the roof will result in less heat loss and so a warmer and cosier house. And a warmer room in the roof.

Energy Saving - With less heat loss, you will need less energy to heat your home and so become more energy efficient. This will result in significant savings to your energy bills.

Sustainability -  As you use less energy you are using less natural resources which means you are being a more sustainable family and are playing a role in helping the planet.

Noise Reduction - Insulation will also make it harder for sound to pass through the walls and into your home. This will mean a quieter house eliminating noise pollution.
